Random Shenanigans Week 17

I was going through my sent emails from way back (I do that once or twice a year…don’t ask me why) and I somehow found this ted talk that I sent my mum. (She was preparing for an exam). It’s pretty interesting.

I can’t figure out how I feel about the guy though. In the same time, he seems genuinely interested in the topic and really eager to share it with everyone. And on the other hand, I can’t help but feel like he’s some cocky nerdy motherfucker. Totally unjustified. And perhaps a bit too harsh, but ngl that’s how he strikes me.

In any case, I really enjoy the irony that as I re-watched this Ted-talk I realized that I literally hadn’t remembered any of it.

In TV news,

I watched Feud: Bette & Joan (which I hope to review in a later post) and I joined a beautiful family on Youtube called What The Flick.

Since none of my “physical” friends watch the shows that I watch, this channel is a wonderful way for me to vicariously discuss episodes as they come out every week with people who are just as passionate about them.

They’re currently reviewing Feud, Better Call Saul, the Americans and many other shows, check them out if you too need an outlet to channel your thoughts after watching an episode.

And in What the flick, they mentioned that Olivia de Havilland was still alive. And I was like WHAT? I looked more into it and found this beautiful gem:

Olivia de Havilland and the Most Notorious Sibling Rivalry in Hollywood

I loved how beautifully written this was so I took a look at this other piece by the same author. This Jon Peters character, I know nothing about. But how sad is it that he sounds exactly like Donald Trump? Could they be related?

In some gossip news,

I  was shocked to learn that Elon Musk was dating Amber Heard. Because I follow Justine Musk on Quora and as her name suggests, I thought they were happily married, but, as it turns out, they divorced way back.  I guess she kept the last name because she’s a writer.

I was trying to learn more about it, when I found this pretty interesting article she wrote about her divorce.

The ex wife of a super millionaire spilling all his secrets to the media is not unheard of, and these things are usually ugly, but this article is a little more than that.

Don’t get me wrong, this woman knows how to throw jabs. And she’s really sneaky. But for some reason, instead of sounding evil, she sounds bitter, hurt and, actually quite sincere. I think that behind all the “he’s an asshole” talk is the real struggle of a woman who took the backseat and who realized the mistake she made 8 years later, which is always a good read.

What else?

Oh yes.

There’s this article I read about Power Point that I really enjoyed. Having worked in Management consulting, for a little bit, I have experienced first hand the double edge of Power point presentations. And I think that the article’s claim that the way we present our thoughts changes our thinking patterns is really worth investigating.

Last but not least is this awesome answer I came across in Quora:

Liz Hermosa’s answer to What did someone do that made you think they were really smart?

  1. You’re back to blogging! Yes! These “Random Shenanigans” posts have inspired me to write my own posts that have a similar concept. I’m calling it The Rabbit Hole. 🙂
